Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and [Your legal business name] ("we", "us"), of [Registered address, Kampala, Uganda], for Tekton: the add-in for Autodesk Revit, its installer and updates, and the license that lets you use it. By installing Tekton, starting a trial or buying a license, you agree to them. If you're accepting for a company, you confirm you may bind it, and "you" means the company.

1. Who sells to you

Card and PayPal purchases: our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle's buyer terms also apply to those purchases.

Mobile money purchases (through Flutterwave) are sold by us directly, and paid to us through Flutterwave.

Either way, your license to use Tekton is granted by us, under these terms.

2. Your license

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Tekton for your own work, or your organisation's, within the limits of the plan you chose:

  • Free trial: 30 days, on one computer, once per person and once per computer.
  • Annual: one named user, on up to two computers, for each year paid for.
  • Team: as many people at the same time as you have seats, on any number of your organisation's computers, for each year paid for.
  • Perpetual: one computer, with no end date. [Decide and state here whether a perpetual license includes all future updates, or updates for a set period (for example 12 months) after purchase]

Tekton is licensed, not sold: we and our licensors keep all rights in it that these terms don't expressly give you.

3. Activation and license checks

Tekton needs an internet connection to activate, and checks its license with our license server about once a week; it keeps working offline for up to 30 days between checks. Team licenses hold a seat while Revit is open, so they need a connection while in use. To enforce the computer and seat limits, Tekton identifies each computer by a one-way code derived from its hardware; see our privacy policy. A license that has ended, been refunded or been revoked stops working at its next check.

To move a license to a new computer, contact us and we'll release it from the old one.

4. What you may not do

  • Share, resell, rent or lend your license key or license file, or use one license beyond its plan's limits.
  • Bypass, disable or interfere with the license checks, or help anyone else do so.
  • Decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer Tekton, except where the law allows it despite this restriction.
  • Remove notices of our rights, or use Tekton to build a competing product.

5. Prices, payment and renewal

Prices are shown on our website before you buy. For card and PayPal purchases, Paddle adds any sales tax or VAT that applies where you are, and issues your invoice.

Annual and Team plans bought by card or PayPal renew automatically every year at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the link in your Paddle receipt email, or by contacting us; Tekton then keeps working until the end of the year you've paid for. We'll tell you before any price change applies to a renewal.

Plans bought by mobile money are paid up front for one year (Annual, Team) or once (Perpetual), and don't renew automatically; buy again to continue.

Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

6. Trials

A trial is free and gives you every feature for 30 days, with no payment details needed. It ends by itself. Please use it to make sure Tekton suits your work and your computers before you buy.

7. Updates and support

Tekton updates itself: when you close Revit it checks for a new version, and installs it in the background. Every update is signed by us, and Tekton refuses any that isn't. We may add, change or remove features in updates. Support is by email at support@example.com.

8. Other companies' software

Tekton works with Autodesk Revit and Tekla Structural Designer, which you must license separately from their makers. We're not affiliated with or endorsed by Autodesk or Trimble; Revit and Tekla are their trademarks. A change those companies make to their software may affect Tekton, and we can't guarantee compatibility with every version.

9. Engineering responsibility

Tekton is a tool for qualified professionals, not a substitute for their judgement. It transfers and generates model data, reinforcement and analytical geometry, and that output can be wrong or incomplete: because of the data it was given, the software it works with, or a fault in Tekton. You are responsible for checking everything Tekton produces, and for the designs, drawings and decisions you base on it, in line with the codes and standards that apply to your work.

10. Warranty

We'll make reasonable efforts for Tekton to work substantially as described on our website. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, Tekton is provided "as is", without other warranties, express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or that it will be error-free or uninterrupted. Some places don't allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.

11. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue, data or business, arising from Tekton or these terms. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Tekton in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Ending the license

You can stop using Tekton at any time. We may suspend or end your license if you break these terms in a serious way, such as sharing your key or bypassing the license checks; if it's something that can be put right, we'll ask you to first. When your license ends, stop using Tekton and uninstall it. Sections 4 and 8–14 continue after it ends.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when our products or the law change. We'll post the new version here with its date, and for a significant change we'll email customers whose license is active. Changes don't apply to a period you've already paid for, unless the law requires them to.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [the Republic of Uganda — confirm with your lawyer], and the courts of [Uganda] have jurisdiction, except that if you're a consumer you keep the protection of the laws, and the right to use the courts, of the country where you live. If something goes wrong, please contact us first; most things can be sorted out quickly.
